Solo Attorney Well-Being Trends Report
While solo practitioners make up 49% of private practice lawyers in the U.S., relatively little research or attention has focused specifically on America's solo community. At the end of 2024, ALPS endeavored to establish benchmark data about solo attorneys and their respective professional satisfaction to determine how this subset of the nation’s legal workforce was faring. The findings were surprising.
Contribute to the ALPS Solo Trends Survey
Share your experiences and lend your voice to other solo practitioners.
You'll help us understand national trends in what it means to be a solo.
As an attorney, we value your insights and your experiences are valuable. This survey will help create the 2026 ALPS Solo Trends Report, a resource designed to help solo practitioners benchmark their practices and understand national trends in workload, operations, technology/AI, client expectations, and well‑being.
This anonymous survey will not collect any identifying information. Results are reported only in aggregate.
Because about 75% of ALPS policyholders are solos like you, we want to continue to give voice to the challenges and triumphs of the solo attorney.
